Libraries

Azusa Pacific’s libraries include the William V. Marshburn Memorial Library, the Hugh and Hazel Darling Library, the James L. Stamps Theological Library in the Duke Academic Complex, and six regional center libraries.

A unified catalog identifies the more than 215,000 books and media, 1,600 periodical titles, and more than 630,000 microforms. The university network provides access to more than 100 electronic databases, including more than 12,000 full-text periodical titles, as well as all of the material available on the Web. The Azusa campus libraries are open at convenient times, with special hours set for final exam weeks, vacation breaks, and holidays.

APU’s Community Counseling Center

The Community Counseling Center (CCC) provides Christian-based counseling and consulting services at a low cost to the community. The center helps families resolve life transition dilemmas and find harmony between their values and actions. The center also enables students in Azusa Pacific University’s clinical and family psychology programs to develop the necessary skills to become effective therapists and/or psychologists.

Neighborhood Wellness Center

Opened in 1998 by Azusa Pacific and the city of Azusa, the Neighborhood Wellness Center enables both organizations to reach into the community. The center allows students to assume a professional role in conducting assessments and screenings. Local residents utilize this source to seek wellness and prevention, and such screenings as density, mammography, and Hepatitis C.

High Sierra Program

The High Sierra Semester is a living-learning environment that is academic, but also enhances leadership skills and growth. The program is a simultaneous study of the great works in history, literature, philosophy, and art. The base for the program is Emerald Cove Christian Conference Center, located 45 minutes north of Fresno and 15 minutes south of the entrance of Yosemite National Park, in the town of Bass Lake. Students leave for the fall semester on Labor Day and return the first week in December. The spring semester begins around the second week in January and returns in late April/early May. Twelve to 17 units are available for students to take, only three of which are independent study.

Performing Arts

The School of Music sponsors several events each year, including student recitals, guest performing groups, and the Artist Concert Series. APU Theater presents more than 15 productions a year, including drama, comedy, musical, and original pieces written and directed by APU students.

All Access Program

Azusa Pacific is one of the nation’s 5 percent of colleges and universities to go wireless. This program allows students, faculty, and staff wireless laptop access to the Internet and the APU intranet within 300 feet of any university building. As a part of this program, all freshmen are offered the option of leasing a wireless-ready laptop upon admission.

Research Centers

The Center for Research in Science (CRIS) promotes and supports strengthening APU’s science education programs, bringing scientific research programs to the campus, and equipping the APU community with the knowledge needed to intelligently discuss issues involving both science and theology. The Center for Research in Ethics and Values (CREV) is committed to the promotion of research that can enhance the moral, ethical, and spiritual development of children, youth, and young adults through leaders, disciplers, and professional educators.

Athletics

Azusa Pacific’s 19 athletics teams compete in NCAA Division II, and have earned 51 national titles and 116 conference championships in various levels of competition throughout the years. Sports include baseball, softball, football, women’s volleyball, women’s swimming and diving, women’s water polo, women’s acrobatics and tumbling, and men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, soccer, tennis, and indoor and outdoor track and field. The university also hosts several intramural sports each year, sponsored by the Office of Communiversity.
