Q & A with Jennifer...
- How has college transformed you?
- College is where you learn the most about who you are and what you believe. I went to class (most of the time) and did what was assigned, but I learned my best lessons through the people I associated with and the challenges I faced on a daily basis, which I couldn’t have done JUST through reading my textbooks. College proved to me that pulling all-nighters and midnight coffee runs is best when you have a community that inspires and encourages you to want to achieve your goals and be your very best.
- What college activities most excited you?
- When I was a prospective student at APU, I was especially excited about
the phenomenal music program and the many ensemble and travel opportunities
that were available to me, even as a freshman!
Studying abroad is also an incredible opportunity, especially while you’re in college. There isn’t a better time in your life where you can travel, explore, and backpack through different countries with some of your closest friends while embracing another culture. You’ll make memories that you will undoubtedly remember forever.
- What advice would you give to prospective students?
- Definitely get involved and take advantage of what college has to offer. It is undoubtedly supposed to be the best 4, 5, maybe even 6 years of your life and those years will fly by faster than you know. Just remember that college is a privilege and your experience is truly what you yourself make of it! Also, don’t stress about declaring a major right away. It’s very likely you will change it five more times while you’re a student anyway!
- How do you spend your free time?
- I LOVE attending musicals and/or anything where talent is involved and appreciated. I also enjoy recreational activities, attempting to surf, running, playing violin, singing in my car, playing beach volleyball, cooking, but more so eating, learning languages, exploring different cultures, devotionals, attending baseball games, and reading a good book with a fireplace and hot chocolate in hand.
