As a college student, you may begin studying at another institution and decide to transfer to APU. You may wish to take classes at another institution concurrently with your APU semester (you’ll need One Stop’s approval to do so), during the summer, or spend a semester or more elsewhere and then return to APU.
If any of these circumstances apply to you, here are some basic questions and answers about transferring courses to APU:
Who determines which courses are transferable to APU?
All requests for transferring courses are handled by One Stop. If the course you want to transfer to APU is for your major or minor, the Undergraduate Registrar will consult with the appropriate APU department. If the course you want to transfer to APU is for your General Studies or for an elective class, then the Undergraduate Registrar will determine its appropriateness.
How do I choose courses that will transfer to APU?
One Stop’s website lists their policy, downloadable forms, and transferable General Studies courses from other institutions. To inquire about the transferability of courses not listed, fill out the Transfer Inquiry Form (PDF).
Be sure to verify that the course you plan to take is transferable before you begin the semester. You must achieve a grade of C- or higher in the course, and then send your official transcript to APU to receive academic credits.
Incoming transfer students may be eligible for an adjustment to the requirements for the “God’s Word and the Christian Response” as well as the “Upper-Division General Studies” coursework. This adjustment depends on the number of units transferred to APU at the time you are admitted to the university. Please consult with the Office of the Undergraduate Registrar for further details.
Once you’ve transferred courses to APU, a transcript evaluation will inform you of the number of units you have been credited. One Stop completes these evaluations and posts the information on your web-based academic degree audit.
