Transferring Classes

As a college student, you may begin studying at another institution and decide to transfer to APU. You may wish to take classes at another institution concurrently with your APU semester (you'll need the Registrar's permission to do so), during the summer, or spend a semester or more elsewhere and then return to APU.

If any of these circumstances apply to you, here is some basic information about transferring classes to APU:

Who determines which classes are transferable to APU?
All requests for transferring classes are handled by the Office of the Registrar. If the class you want to transfer to APU is for your major or minor, the Office of the Registrar will consult with the appropriate APU department. If the class you want to transfer to APU is for your general studies or for an elective class, then the Office of the Registrar will determine its appropriateness.

How do I choose classes that will transfer to APU?
The Office of the Registrar’s website lists their policy, downloadable forms, and transferable General Studies classes from other institutions. To inquire about transferable courses not listed, fill out the Transfer Inquiry Form.

Be sure to verify that the class you plan to take is transferable before for the semester. You must achieve a grade of C- or higher in the class, send your transcript to APU to receive academic credits.

Transfer students may be eligible for an adjustment to the requirements for the “God’s Word and the Christian Response” as well as the “Upper Division General Studies” course work. This adjustment depends on the number of units transferred to APU. Please consult with the Office of the Registrar for further details.

Once you’ve transferred to APU, a transcript evaluation will inform you of the number of units you have been credited. The Office of the Registrar completes these evaluations and posts the information on your Degree Works audit.
