Lauren Guerard

(BFA ’11) was part of the visual effects team for Argo, which won three Academy Awards including Best Picture. As a coordinator for Method Studios, she maintained the line of communication between the vfx artists, the supervisors, and the studio.

“That meant a lot of notetaking, scheduling, and sending and receiving files to and from the client,”
said Guerard.

She started with Method as a part-time evening receptionist but helped out in small ways on Wrath of the Titans. That project grew to the point that she was promoted to coordinator. Afterward the studio got Argo, and Guerard was assigned to that team.

Asked what was her biggest takeaway from working on the Oscar winner, she said, “Along with shots that featured CG (computer-generated) elements, there were two shots that were entirely CG and needed to look photo-realistic. Director Ben Affleck had a clear vision of what those shots needed to include, and working on them showed me the importance of detail. It was awesome to watch as the artists added layer after layer of elements.”
