Meet Our Team
The members of the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations are eager to help you stay involved in the Azusa Pacific community!
Craig Wallace ’81Executive Director
My wife, Linda (Roll ’87), and I live in Claremont. Linda also teaches kindergarten in Claremont, and is an avid blogger. We have two sons who attend Azusa Pacific. It is so interesting and exciting to watch them experience college life at our beloved APU, not to mention the late-night trips to Donut Man! Having been in alumni relations for more than 20 years, I am passionate about helping alums connect with their alma mater and connecting current students to alumni. As APU continues to grow through God’s blessing, we desire for our alumni to be involved in that growth and blessing. Please pray for APU, and consider your involvement in alumni events and local chapters.
Rick Givens ’83, ’03Director
My wife, Heather, and I live in Alta Loma. Heather works for San Antonio Community Hospital as a physical therapist assistant. I am a 1983 alumnus of Azusa Pacific and went on to receive my M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1988. I completed my Master of Arts in Human and Organizational Development through APU’s School of Business and Management in 2003. I have been on staff at APU since 1990, working in various positions: director of the Institute for Outreach Ministries for nine years; assistant director of the Office of University Advancement for a year; and I started in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations in February of 2001. I am an ordained elder in the American Baptist Church, and serve as a reserve chaplain in the United States Air Force. I have four daughters, Jackie, Jessica, Jennifer, and Makenna; and a son, Connor.
Kristi Hawkins ’01Assistant Director
During my time as a student at Azusa Pacific, I discovered God’s call on my life, found my husband, and received an outstanding education (B.A. in Youth Ministry). After graduation, my husband, Dan (’01), and I got married and moved to Diamond Bar. We have two daughters, Katelyn and Chloe. Dan teaches high school music, and in our free time we love to lead short-term mission trips. I am truly grateful for the role APU has played in my life. I am thrilled to be back on campus as Office of Alumni and Parent Relations staff, keeping the community at APU strong and growing. Alum, parent, or student, please feel free to drop by our office anytime to say hello. We are here to serve you!
Jill MacLarenSpecial Projects Coordinator
I ensure that alumni, students, and guests have a pleasant experience when contacting the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, and also help find answers to their questions. I assist the alumni staff with events and projects, and run the daily operations of the office.
Lisa Karis ’10Administrative Assistant
I graduated from Azusa Pacific with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In my four years as a student, I was involved in leading a Disciple Group and worked in the undergraduate registrar’s office. After graduating, I moved “home” to the San Francisco Bay Area temporarily before coming back down to Southern California, getting married to fellow alum Danny (M.Ed. ’09), and beginning work at APU in the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations. I love being back on campus and being a part of the office.
Tim Kapadia ’97, ’01Associate Director of Alumni and Development
I joined the advancement team in 2006, after starting my career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in their public relations and community affairs departments. I earned my B.S. in marketing in 1997, and an MBA in 2001, both from Azusa Pacific. I am married to Karen (Tallman ’97), who is an adjunct professor in Azusa Pacific’s School of Education. We have two children: a daughter, Grace, and a son, Taylor. I have the opportunity to work closely with the donors and fellow alumni who desire to contribute to the success and growth of Azusa Pacific through the University Fund. As an alum, I have personally experienced the positive impact that gifts to the university’s scholarship fund have on our students. My hope is to help friends discover ways to give to the university that connect with their passions and interests.
