Television Premier of Dear Francis Tonight
June 27, 2007

The television premier of Dear Francis, a feature-length documentary on the AIDS crisis in Swaziland, directed by 2002 alumnus Brent Gudgel, will air Wednesday, June 27, on Showtime at 9 p.m.

Winner of the Heartland Film Festival Crystal Heart and Best Documentary at the New York AIDS Film Festival, Dear Francis follows the passion of two Texas college students as they embark on an AIDS prevention program in the world's most HIV-infected nation of Swaziland. The film puts a face to the AIDS pandemic as it chronicles the personal stories of two strangers and the Swazis they befriend. Throughout the story are interviews of local and international officials working the front lines of the pandemic.

After graduating from APU, Gudgel founded Chronicle Project with a group of filmmakers and travelers with a vision to create change in the world. As part of that vision, Chronicle Project has offered numerous screenings of Dear Francis, including one at APU.

In addition to tonight's viewing, Dear Francis will also air on Showtime on June 28 and 30, and July 8 and 13.
