Fall Barnes & Noble Book Signing
October 20, 2008

Following the success of APU’s first and second faculty book signings this last year, the university presents four new faculty authors who will share and discuss their books at the Glendora Barnes & Noble on Thursday, November 13, from 7-9 p.m. The event includes a reception, during which each author will present their book, followed by a meet and greet and time for signing.

In addition to the book signing, from November 13-16 a percentage of your purchase can benefit APU. Bring a voucher, buy any book, and support the university. Show the voucher or tell the cashier you want to support APU. Gift cards and membership purchases excluded.

Meet the Authors:
  • Ken Otto, associate professor and special collections librarian, will be presenting his book, Azusa Pacific University. From the university’s vast photographic archives, Otto tells the story of APU’s fledgling days, multiple mergers, and Christ-centered transformational vision. Establishing a timeline from 1899 to the present, Otto’s pictorial account is an engaging reflection on the university’s vibrant history.
  •  Stuart Strother, Ph.D., School of Business and Management professor, and Barbara Strother will be signing their new book, Living Abroad in China. The Strothers offer a wealth of practical advice on leaving the United States to make a home in China. With firsthand insight, they cover essential information on navigating the language and culture, finding a home, cost of living, employment, education, health care, and more.
  •  George S. Babbes, Ph.D., associate dean for accreditation and professor in the School of Business and Management, and Michael Zigarelli will be presenting their book, The Minister’s MBA: Essential Business Tools for Maximum Ministry Success. Written by two leading professors in Christian management, the book teaches how to apply essential business skills to ministry. Addressing topics such as leadership, innovation, and strategy, the authors bring to life an empowering curriculum designed to supercharge ministry, inspire excellence, and encourage partnership with God for maximum impact.
  • Jim and Sarah Sumner, Ph.D., professor of theology and ministry and director of the Master of Arts in Theological Formation Program, will be signing their book, Just How Married Do You Want to Be? Practicing Oneness in Marriage. The Sumners tell the unlikely story of their love and marriage, offering detailed teaching on conflict resolution, managing expectations, getting past hot button issues, and living in Christian community. Through a close examination of often misunderstood biblical teachings, the book offers a fresh perspective on love and marriage.
