APU Chef Wins Silver in Culinary Challenge

Azusa Pacific's Hospitality Services Executive Chef Daniel Durfort recently won a silver medal from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) in the Pacific Region Culinary Challenge on March 25, 2012. The Culinary Challenge recognizes outstanding food preparation and presentation skills in collegiate dining services.

Competitors were given 60 minutes, with 10 additional minutes for plating, to prepare four portions of an original hot entrée, featuring the mandatory ingredient, flounder, as well as side dishes and sauces to create a balanced plate. Dishes were judged based on use of ingredients, creativity, skill, flavor, texture, presentation, and other criteria.
