Cougar Athletics garnered 68 All-American honors and 22 All-American Scholar-Athletes awards.

Azusa Pacific's San Diego Regional Center co-sponsored the Teachers Are Heroes program, honoring 12 local teachers and their classes with a class party and a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Teachers are awarded monthly, praising their outstanding service and dedication to their students.

The Haggard School of Theology approved the undergraduate major in Youth Ministry. The program will begin being offered to students in fall 2003.

The Department of Graduate Psychology earned full national accreditation from the American Psychological Association for the university's Doctor of Clinical Psychology Program.
