Long Beach, CA – The tune up process is complete. Effectively dismantling the competition at their last two competitions, the Stunts & Tumbling team now focuses on their goal of a National Title. Though not flawless routines, the necessary signs of improvement were seen by the coaches.
“We’re pleased with winning these last two events. However, we also know the level of competition we are about to face. We’re not in cruise mode now. We’re pushing even harder to the finish,” said head coach Colleen Kausrud.
With constant improvement throughout the season, the Cougars have become the team to be feared in California. In the event held at the end of February, at the Pyramid in Long Beach, APU topped UC Santa Barbara and USC by 21.5 points, and finished with a 222.5.
Mt. Sac, UC Santa Barbara, and Fullerton College all competed against APU this past weekend, but the Cougars rose to the challenge and finished on top by 17 points, finishing with a total 207.5 (out of a possible 300).
With continued confidence from each competition, the team feels prepared for the final challenge in front of them. They travel to Daytona, Florida to compete at the National Championships April 8-9, 2010.
