AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific midfielder Eric Winblad has been named the GSAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for leading the Cougars to their second straight Golden State Athletic Conference championship title.

The junior midfielder scored the game-winning goal of the Cougars' 3-0 win at Hope International last Tuesday with less than 5 minutes remaining in the first half.  Then towards the latter part of the second half, Winblad assisted teammate Nathan Nienhuis in the final goal of the game to seal the 3-0 victory.

Winblad returned to his home field on Saturday to face the NAIA's No. 15-ranked Vanguard in the final round of GSAC play.  After heading into a 1-0 halftime deficit, the midfielder came back to score the second half equalizer that sent Azusa Pacific into a 2-1 double overtime win to seal the GSAC title.

The NAIA's No. 9-ranked Cougars take the field this Saturday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. in the semi-final round of the GSAC Tournament  against  The Master's College at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
