Moore-Porter Nets National Award

Sophomore forward Alex Moore-Porter entered Tuesday's game averaging a team-high 20 points per game in GSAC play.

Alex Moore-Porter of Azusa Pacific (Calif.) has been selected as the NAIA Women’s Basketball Division I Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009. She is the fourth GSAC player to earn the award in the 6 weeks of the national awards program this season.

Moore-Porter, a sophomore forward from Seattle, Wash., averaged 26.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in two wins for the Cougars.  She scored 23 points and cleared eight rebounds against The Master’s (Calif.) and then recorded career-highs of 30 points and 15 rebounds against California Baptist on the road.  Moore-Porter also averaged 3.5 assists and shot 57.6 percent from the floor.
