Cougars Still Lead Director's Cup

AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific remains atop the NAIA Directors’ Cup standings in the first tally of the winter season, but the Cougars hold on the lead spot is less than 5 points.

With another national championship in men’s indoor track & field, a second-place finish in women’s indoor track & field and a first-ever scoring from women’s swimming & diving, which finished seventh at the NAIA championship meet, the Cougars garnered 259 more points and now lead the overall NAIA standings with 583 points. Lindenwood University, which scored in 5 different winter sports which included a national championship in men’s wrestling, vaulted into second-place with 578 points.
 
Concordia University (Calif.) is third with 444.5 and Fresno Pacific University is fourth with 440. In fact, the 5 of the top 9 schools are from the Golden State Athletic Conference.
 
Another update on the winter standings will be released March 26 and it will include men’s and women’s basketball tournament results. Both of the Cougar men’s and women’s basketball teams have qualified for the NAIA Tournaments.
