The Cougars will host an Opening Round game for the second straight season, and Maine-Fort Kent is traveling, as it did last year, for its second consecutive NAIA Tournament appearance. A year ago, the Bengals were defeated at No. 9-seed Northwood (Fla.), 7-0.

This season, Maine-Fort Kent clinched the Sunrise Athletic Conference automatic bid with back-to-back 6-0 wins over Maine-Machias and SUNY-Canton in the conference tournament. The Bengals are 1 of just 2 unbeaten teams in the NAIA this season (Dakota Wesleyan is the other), posting a perfect 17-0 mark entering national tournament play. Maine-Fort Kent posted a perfect 11-0 conference record to win the Sunrise Athletic Conference regular-season title.
