Four-Year Cougar Baseball Player Dal Jones Dies

Dal Jones, a 4-year Cougar baseball player who graduated with a business degree from Azusa Pacific in 1993, died of a heart attack last week.

Jones, 38, played at Azusa Pacific after battling Hodgkin's Disease during high school, where he was a 1989 graduate of Temple City High School. Primarily a pitcher during a 4-year career in which the Cougars won 4 straight GSAC titles, Jones had a career record of 10-3, registering 66 strikeouts with a 4.65 earned-run average in 41 career appearances. He was 1 of just 2 players on the 1993 squad who played on all 4 of Azusa Pacific's GSAC championship teams from 1990-93.

Jones was married with 2 children. A funeral service has been scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m., at Rose Hills Skyview Chapel.
