February 27, 2011

The 18th Annual Golden State Athletic Conference Basketball Postseason Tournaments begin this week, and the Azusa Pacific men and women will host at least a first-round game in their respective tournaments.

In fact, by virtue of winning the GSAC regular-season title and earning the tournament’s No. 1 seed, the Cougar women will host all of their games as long as they remain alive in the tournament.  The Cougar men are the No. 2 seed in their tournament bracket.

Play begins Wednesday (March 2) when the Cougar women take on Point Loma Nazarene University.  The following night, Thursday (March 3), the Cougar men host California Baptist University.  Both games tip off at 7:30 p.m. in the Felix Event Center.

Should each team win and advance to their respective semifinals, the women would host their game against the Westmont/Vanguard winner on Friday (March 4) in the Felix Event Center at 7:30 p.m.

Pending other first-round results, the men would likely play their semifinal at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday (March 5) at Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., against the Biola University/Point Loma Nazarene winner.

For complete GSAC Postseason Tournament schedules go the GSAC website.

Tickets for all games are $10 for adults, faculty and staff, $8 for seniors (62 and older), and $6 for students.  They can be purchased at the Felix Event Center Ticket Office.  Azusa Pacific students with an APU ID and wearing a Blackout t-shirt will be admitted free to all GSAC Postseason Tournament games played at the Felix Event Center.
