AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific has maintained its lead in the 2010-11 Directors’ Cup standings through the first tally of the winter sports.

With top 5 finishes in last week’s NAIA championship meets of women’s swimming, men’s indoor track & field and women’s indoor track & field, Azusa Pacific now had 538.5 points to top the leader board of the Directors’ Cup for NAIA schools.  Lindenwood University (Mo.) is now second with 446.5 points with Simon Fraser closely following in third plat at 444.5 points.

The 6-time defending Cup champion Cougars held an 81-point cushion over its nearest competitor after the falls sports, and they pushed that advantage to 92 through the scoring of 6 winter sports.  Still to tally before the winter season closes are the NAIA championship tournaments of men’s and women’s basketball, both in which Azusa Pacific is competing.
