THIS YEAR: Sophomore first baseman Brice Cutspec looks to build on his impressive All-GSAC freshman campaign … Hits for power and average and has worked in the offseason to improve his patience at the plate … Used offseason to improve defensive footwork and should continue to start the majority of games at first base … Will likely bat in the middle of the order.

2007: Earned All-GSAC honors after batting .363 (78-for-215) with 19 home runs and 64 RBIs … Ranked second in home runs for a power-packed Azusa Pacific lineup that ranked second in the NAIA in home runs with 97 … Ranked third in the GSAC and ninth in the NAIA in home runs … Had 2 or more RBIs in 19 of the 58 games he played, driving in a season-high 4 runs 4 times … Batted .500 (23-for-46) through the Cougars’ first 13 conference games and reached base safely in 31 straight GSAC games to finish the regular season … Hit 4 home runs in a doubleheader sweep over Point Loma Nazarene that clinched the conference title and the program’s single-season wins record with 4 games left in the regular season … Went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Azusa Pacific’s 7-4 NAIA World Series win over Lee (Tenn.) University … Helped keep Azusa Pacific’s season alive with a pair of home runs in a 5-0 win over Biola in a regional elimination game.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 varsity seasons for head coach Mike Kelly at Westminster (Calif.) High … Named All-Golden West League at catcher all 3 years of high school … Was a 2005 Southern California Coaches Association All-Star and a 2-time Puma National High School All-American … Batted .347 (35-for-101) with 4 home runs and 23 RBIs as a 2006 senior … As a pitcher, fired 6 complete games, including 3 shutouts, en route to a 5-3 record with a 2.29 ERA … Struck out 36 batters in 58 innings of work … Led the Lions to a season-opening 1-0 win over Arlington, scoring the game’s only run in the seventh inning while tossing the complete-game shutout … Threw complete-game victories to hand Ocean View its only 2 Golden West League defeats, including a 3-0 shutout … Led the Lions to a share of the Golden West League title … As a 2005 junior, batted .382 (34-for-89) with 3 home runs and 25 RBIs.
