HIGH SCHOOL: Was a two-sport athlete at El Camino High in Oceanside, Calif., playing 2 seasons of varsity baseball for head coach Joe Gonzalez ... Also played 3 years as a running back and linebacker for the Wildcat football team under football head coach Pulu Poumele ... Was named El Camino's athlete of the year by the North County Times after earning All-Palomar first team honors in football and all-league second team recognition in baseball his senior year ... Also garnered 2010 San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic honors ... Batted .337 as a 2010 senior with school single-season records in RBIs (31) and triples (6) ... Drove in a run in 7 consecutive games to set the school's single-season RBI streak, as well ... As a junior in 2009, batted .337 with 18 runs, 6 doubles, 1 home run, and a team-high 17 walks ...
