AZUSA, Calif. -- The bracket for the 2008 Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series was released Sunday afternoon, and Azusa Pacific was seeded fourth in the 10-team, double-elimination format tournament hosted by Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.

The Cougars (45-10) open play with a first-round contest against fifth-seeded Union (Ky.) College (47-16), the Region XII and South Central Super Regional champion, in a 3 p.m. contest on Friday, May 23, the opening day of tournament action.

The winner of that game earns a 2-day break from action before a winner’s bracket contest on Monday, May 26, also at 3 p.m. The loser drops into an elimination contest at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, against the loser of Friday’s game between eighth-seeded Bellevue (Neb.) and ninth-seeded Ohio Dominican.
