AZUSA, Calif. -- The Azusa Pacific baseball program will host its first-ever prospect camp on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cougar Baseball Complex.

The Cougar Baseball Prospect Camp provides a chance for potential Azusa Pacific baseball prospects to be evaluated by Azusa Pacific’s baseball coaching staff. The camp, which provides position-specific training, pro-style workout, strength and agility training and assessment, will conclude with a recruiting seminar and a scouting seminar led by a current MLB area scout. This showcase is an opportunity for the Azusa Pacific coaching staff to get an on-field evaluation of a player’s fit as an Azusa Pacific baseball recruit.

The cost for the camp is $165, and participants will be provided with drinks, lunch and a Cougar Baseball T-shirt. Camp roster space is limited. For more information, or to register for the Cougar Baseball Prospect Camp, contact Associate Head Baseball Coach Robert Ruiz at (951) 764-5997, or via email at rruiz@apu.edu.

The Azusa Pacific baseball program is the winningest program in Golden State Athletic Conference history, and the Cougars have won 10 conference titles in the 22-year history of the GSAC. Azusa Pacific has appeared in the NAIA World Series 5 times, including back-to-back appearances in 2007 and 2008. The Cougar baseball program has produced 31 MLB Draft selections all-time, and 7 former Cougars played professionally for MLB affiliates in 2008.
