AZUSA, Calif. -- The Azusa Pacific baseball program has scheduled a Tuesday, April 6 exhibition game against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Class A Advanced California League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, at the Epicenter in Rancho Cucamonga. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., and tickets are available for purchase from the Azusa Pacific baseball office.

“We feel extremely blessed that the Quakes have chosen Azusa Pacific to help them prepare for their season while allowing us the opportunity to generate support for Cougar Baseball on our campus and within the community,” Cougar head coach Paul Svagdis said. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our players and fans, and we look forward to another great experience hosted by a first-class organization at a tremendous facility.”

All proceeds from those sales directly support the Cougar baseball program, which over the past 3 years has played in 3 straight NAIA National Championship events while posting the highest 3-year winning percentage (.760) in program history. Azusa Pacific opened the 2010 season with a 6-2 victory over local NCAA Division III rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Azusa Pacific is 1-3 all-time in exhibition games against a Quakes roster that typically features several of the Angels’ top organizational prospects. The Cougars’ only win in the exhibition series came with a 5-4 victory in 2007, and the Quakes won the 2005, 2008 and 2009 contests by scores of 3-2, 6-3, and 7-4, respectively.
