AZUSA, Calif.-- The postseason honors continue to pile up for Azusa Pacific sophomore Stephen Vogt as he was named 2005 NAIA All-American first team earlier today.

Vogt becomes the first Cougar to earn All-American honors since B.J. Litchfield was named to the third team in 2002. He is also the first to earn first team honors since Justin Duarte and John Knott did so in 1999. He is the 15th Cougar ever to earn first team honors and the first underclassmen.

He led the conference in hitting (.453) and was one of just 3 players in the conference above .400. He also led the GSAC with 67 hits and finished in the top 5 in hits, RBIs, doubles, triples and total bases. In GSAC-play alone, Vogt hit .475 and led the conference with 48 hits, 2 triples, 75 total bases and 38 walks.

Vogt is one of 3 players from the Golden State Athletic Conference to be named to the team. He joins Point Loma Nazarene’s Zach Robinson (DH) and Biola’s Jonathan Grijalva (Relief Pitcher).

Teammate Scott Hodsdon received NAIA All-American honorable mention as well.
