The Azusa Pacific University baseball coaching staff is hosting the third annual APU Baseball Golf Classic, sponsored by The Prism Weight Loss Program, on Friday, Nov. 18, at the San Dimas Canyon Golf Course.

Head coach Paul Svagdis, along with assistant coaches Robert Ruiz and Tony Cougoule are holding the tournament to raise funds to support scholarship opportunities for Azusa Pacific athletes. Additionally, the funds raised will also increase the quality and availability of equipment and travel.

The success of this event over the past 2 years has led to the team’s ability to participate in traveling across the United States playing the best opponents that the NAIA has to offer.

“Last year’s tournament was a tremendous step in the right direction in the continuing development of Azusa Pacific baseball,” said head coach Paul Svagdis. “We were able to successfully increase our funds that directly impacted current scholarship opportunities, multiple field improvements, as well as our trip to Lewiston, Idaho. As a coaching staff, we look to this event as one that has and will continue to be the fundamental approach to developing all areas of our program.”

The Golf Classic is an all-day event that features a morning putting contest. The afternoon tee-off will feature a shotgun start in a four-person scramble format. The event will conclude with an evening raffle and auction with an awards presentation.

Meals will be served throughout the day.
