AZUSA, Calif. -- When the season began Azusa Pacific was counting on production from the middle of its line-up in order to have a successful season.

Not only did Scott Hodsdon and Stephen Vogt produce they did so at a prodigious rate and for their work this season each was named to the 2006 All-GSAC team.

It was the third time Vogt has been selected to the team while Hodsdon was honored for the second time in his career.

Hodsdon, who split time between shortstop and the pitching slab, batted a career-high .423 during this past season – his junior campaign. He won the GSAC batting title with his terrific work at the plate. Coming off a .325 season a year ago, his hard work propelled him to career bests in nearly every offensive category. He led the Cougars with 77 hits, 9 homers and 45 runs batted in. Hodsdon also scored 41 times which led the club.

He was also a key member of the pitching staff showing his versatility by throwing 3 complete games and recording 5 saves. Hodsdon finished the campaign with a 2-4 record and a 3.86 ERA. He struck out 48 batters in 51.1 innings.

Vogt had another mind boggling season. He hit over .400 for the third consecutive season. He finished at .413 with 14 doubles, 6 homers and 39 RBIs. Vogt finished third in the GSAC in hitting. He slugged a team-high .678 and – with the help of 33 walks – finished with a .552 on-base percentage.

Vogt had 14 multi-hit games including an outstanding afternoon against Culver-Stockton (Mo.). Against the Wildcats, Vogt was 5-for-6 with 5 RBIs with a double and a homer in a doubleheader.

He opened the year with an 11-game hitting streak during which he was 15-for-33 (.455) with 3 homers.
