AZUSA, Calif.-- Midnight Madness, college basketball’s annual kickoff event, hits Azusa Pacific on Thursday, November 7th in the Felix Event Center. Festivities will begin on Kresge Plaza with a pre-party at 10 p.m., featuring entertainment, free food from Jersey Mike’s and Chick-Fil-A, along with pizza, and soft serve.

The doors will open at 10:50, with men’s and women’s team introductions starting at 11:00 p.m. Azusa Pacific’s acrobatics & tumbling team will give fans a preview of its upcoming season with a performance, and the Cougar cheer team will also perform a routine. There will be three fan contests where students can win an iPad, books for a year, and a customized Nike outfit.

2013 All-Pacific West Conference guard Troy Leaf will vie to defend his 3-point shooting title, hoping to give the men back-to-back 3-point shooting contest wins over the women after the junior helped break a five-year drought against the women at last year’s Midnight Madness.

Each of the team’s newcomers will take part in the freshmen/transfer dance before Azusa Pacific’s annual dunk contest concludes the night’s festivities.

The men’s basketball team will open the regular season with the Cougar Classic in the Felix Event Center on Nov. 15-16 where the Cougars will take on Cal State Dominguez Hills, and a Cal Poly Pomona team that finished the 2012-13 season ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II.

The women’s slate will kick off with a home game against Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 16 before Azusa Pacific hosts the West Region Crossover Classic on Nov. 22-23.
