AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific’s 2009-10 women’s basketball campaign is barely underway, but the Cougars’ 2010-11 recruiting is already off and running with the announcement that Eboni Sadler, a 5-foot-11 guard/forward originally from Miami, Fla., has decided to transfer to Azusa Pacific University for her final 2 seasons of eligibility. Sadler played her first 2 collegiate campaigns at NCAA Division I Atlantic Coast Conference member University of Miami (Fla.).

Sadler played in 23 games over 2 seasons, starting 5 games as a 2008 sophomore and appearing in 23 total contests. She averaged 3.2 points and 2.7 rebounds and posted 2-year totals of 16 blocks and 20 steals.

“When it came down to personal chemistry with the team and the coaches, along with the opportunity to pursue my life goals, everything at Azusa Pacific just fit,” Sadler said. “Everything clicked for me, and to jell with the other players so quickly and to feel like they supported me, it made it an easy decision for me.”

Sadler was a top-5 high school player in the state of Florida in the class of 2006, averaging 18.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 4.1 steals and 1.5 blocks per game as a senior at Miami (Fla.) Norland High. She earned Miami Herald All-Dade first team honors 2 straight seasons, as well as back-to-back all-state recognition her junior and senior seasons.

“I like the (Azusa Pacific) style of play,” Sadler said. “There’s structure, but they also have fun when they play. At some places it can look like a job, but just being around them and having fun was something I really enjoyed.”

Sadler will major in sociology with an emphasis in criminal justice at Azusa Pacific.
