KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- Following a monstrous three-game performance at the Biola Holiday Classic, the NAIA has recognized Amber Williams as the National Player of the Week.
"Amber was relentless on both the offensive and defensive boards," said head coach T.J. Hardeman. "She not only led us in scoring, she was the reason the other players got such good shots. Her effort and enthusiasm were contagious."
In No. 11 Azusa Pacific’s (8-4) three wins, Williams averaged 25 points and 14 rebounds, while shooting .455 from the field. In the Cougars’ 76-59 win over College of the Ozarks (Mo.) the senior center scored 26 and pulled down 18 boards to bump her rebounding average up to 12.8 per game; a touch below the program’s single season record of 12.9.
Williams ranks in the NAIA top-10 in scoring at 19.9 points per game (6th) and rebounding (3rd). In 12 games she has recorded seven double-doubles, and set a career high with 31 points in Azusa Pacific’s 84-65 defeat of Montana Tech.
Williams was also named GSAC player of the Week on Saturday.
