THIS YEAR: One of just 2 seniors on the roster, Garrett Zambrows will open the season on the shelf as he recovers from a late-season track injury ... Should be at full strength by season's end and be a key contributor in the Cougars' quest for an NAIA championship meet bid ... Will be running his first season of cross country at Azusa Pacific.

TRACK & FIELD: Transferred to Azusa Pacific at mid-semester and was a key athlete in the Cougars' sweeping the 2009 NAIA indoor and outdoor track & field championships ... Ran the opening leg on the Cougars' NAIA national champion indoor 4x800-meter relay that set the NAIA record at 9:50.88 ... Qualified for the NAIA outdoor 800 but did not advance to the finals ... Did not compete at the GSAC Championship Meet in San Diego.

PURDUE: Redshirtted the 2007-08 year at Purdue University as a member of the Boilermaker cross country and track & field teams ... Did not compete in any meets while working out with the teams and attending classes.

LEHIGH: Attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., where he ran 2 seasons of track & field and 1 of cross country ... Qualified for the 2006 USATF Junior National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., in the 800 meters, clocking a 1:50.84 in the prelims before finishing fourth in the finals ... Was a 2-time All-Patriot League honoree.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from West Lafayette (Ind.) High in 2005 where as a senior he earned all-state honors in both cross country and track & field ... Also lettered 1 season each in soccer (midfielder) and football (place kicker).

PERSONAL: Born May 28, 1987, Glendale, Calif. ... Parents are Rod (chiropractor) and Shawn (campus minister) Zambrows ... Has 1 sister (Lindsey) ... Majoring in cinematic arts.
