Stephen Hinkel

The 2015-2016 school year will be the second year Stephen Hinkel is serving as Azusa Pacific's Associate Sports Information Director. He is responsible for baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, women’s swimming and diving, women’s water polo, and the men’s and women’s tennis teams.

Prior to coming to APU, the native of Maytown, Pennsylvania was the Sports Information Director at Caltech. Hinkel also served as the Sports Information Director at Saint Mary's College (IN) from 2005-2008. Before joining the staff at Saint Mary's, he worked for the South Bend Silver Hawks baseball team as the team's box office manager from 2003-2005.

While in the northern Indiana city, he spent five years assisting the Notre Dame sports information department by broadcasting Irish volleyball matches in addition to serving as a head statistician for the football and basketball teams.

He worked as the assistant Sports Information Director at Liberty University for just over a year before moving to northern Indiana. Hinkel was also employed by the Pulaski Rangers baseball organization during the summers of 2000 and 2001.

An avid runner, he has completed four full marathons and seven half-marathons. Hinkel also actively volunteers at his church - Mosaic.

He graduated from Radford University in Virginia in May, 2001 with a bachelors degree in media studies (journalism concentration). In May, 2008 Hinkel received his masters degree in ministry from Bethel College of Indiana.
