HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity football for head coach Fred Romero at state power La Cueva High in Albuquerque, N.M. … As a quarterback, led the Bears to back-to-back undefeated seasons and 28 consecutive victories while on their way to 2 New Mexico state 5A championships … As a 2004 senior, was 55-of-97 passing for 1,050 yards and 19 TDs ... Threw for 1,100 yards and 22 TDs (school record) as a 2003 junior … Was a All-Metro second team pick as both a quarterback and punter during his senior campaign.
