THIS YEAR: Potentially one of the Cougars’ most explosive weapons, senior Darnell Dodson moves into the Cougar backfield after joining the program last year as a wide receiver ... Terrific athlete who is extremely quick with shifty moves ... Will vie for kick return responsibilities ... Can change the tempo of the Cougar attack.

2006: Returned to football after a 2-year layoff ... After working off the rust, played in the final 5 games of the season, all off the bench ... Appeared first as a cornerback vs. Southern Oregon and then the next week vs. Humboldt State (Oct. 14) switched to running back (his third position of the season) for the first time in his career ... For the season, rushed for 32 yards on 8 carries, including 3 of 6 or more yards. TRACK & FIELD: Is a sprinter on Azusa Pacific’s national power track & field team ... Helped lead the Cougars to a third place finish at the 2007 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships by running the third leg on the Cougars’ 4x100 relay that finished eighth with a 41.34 ... Recorded season-bests of 7.37 (60), 11.18 (100), and 22.69 (200).

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Spent 3 years at Fullerton (Calif.) College, playing 2 seasons for longtime Orange County coach Gene Murphy ... As a 2002 freshman, was among the Mission Conference’s top 10 punt returners, averaging 6.7 yards per return for the 3-7 Hornets ... Greyshirted the 2003 season ... As a 2004 sophomore, was a key receiver for the 6-4 Hornets ... Best game came in a 37-33 loss to Riverside City, tallying 5 catches for 58 yards.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 2 seasons of varsity football for head coach Kerry Crabb at Cypress (Calif.) High and put together an outstanding career ... Holds the school career records for most receptions (72), receiving yardage (977) and touchdown receptions (12) ... All together had 15 TDs in his prep career ... Is third on the school’s all-time list in scoring (92 points) .. Also had 4 interceptions in his career ... As a 2000 junior named All-Empire League first team for the 10-2 Centurions.

PERSONAL: Born July 7, 1984, in Long Beach, Calif., to Karen Scott ... Has 1 brother (Erik) ... Majoring in communications ... Would like to eventually be a fire fighter.
