Joey Mastrosimone

During his Cougar playing career, Mastrosimone played in all 18 games of the 2001 and 2002 seasons, starting 11 at nose guard, including the final 5 of his senior campaign. He tallied 68 tackles in his career, including 13 for loss. His finest game came at Cal Lutheran last year when he tallied a game- and career-high 9 tackles, including 2 for loss. In Azusa Pacific’s 48-7 victory at Chapman, he returned a fumble 15 yards for his first-ever collegiate TD.
Mastrosimone came to Azusa Pacific after 2 years at Citrus Community College, where he was a 2-time All-Western States Conference honoree.
He prepped at San Dimas (Calif.) High School. As a 1998 senior, he was named All-San Gabriel Valley and all-conference. He also earned league and valley honors in baseball.
Mastrosimone graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is currently working on his mater’s degree in special education and teaching credential at National University. He is special education teacher at McKinley Children’s Center.
Joey and his wife, Natalie, live in Glendora.
