High School: Was a two-sport athlete in football and track & field at South Torrance High School... In football, was a fullback and linebacker for three years on varsity under Coach Josh Waybright and Coach Chris Hyduke... Captained the team for two seasons... As a sophomore, made the most of his five games with 33 tackles and a forced fumble... Played both sides of the ball as a junior and was part of a trio of junior running backs that ran for 742 yards and seven touchdowns... Led the team defensively with 121 tackles, including 59 solo tackles... As a senior, was part of the trio of running backs that led the Spartans to its first CIF title game in school history...
