2012 (freshman): Played in all 11 games and started in eight of them... Led the team in receiving as a true freshman with 26 receptions for 363 yards and two touchdowns... Averaged 14 yards per catch and 33 yards per game... Against Humboldt State, made first collegiate catch for an eight-yard gain... Against Central Washington, had two grabs for 79 yards and a touchdown... At Simon Fraser, had four receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown... Tallied a career-high five receptions, when the Cougars hosted Simon Fraser in the season finale... In the 21st Century, Martens in the only freshman to lead the Cougars in receiving... Ranked ninth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for yards per catch.

High School: Played varsity football under head coach Bryan Nixon for two years at Centennial High School... As a senior captain, had 38 catches for 512 yards and 9 touchdowns as he led the team, that finished the season 7-5, in receiving...At one point, had scored a touchdown in five consecutive games... As a junior, helped the team compile a record of 10-2 as he averaged 20.7 yards per catch.
