AZUSA, Calif. –- Azusa Pacific football, the most traveled program in the NAIA over the past 2 years, will be more anchored at home in 2007. Second-year Cougar coach Victor Santa Cruz released the 9-game schedule for next season, and the opponents are the same as last year, it’s just that the majority of them will be coming to the Canyon City in 2007.

Azusa Pacific has 5 home games in 2007, beginning with 2 out of the gate. For the 11th straight year, the Cougars will open a new campaign against the University of San Diego when the Toreros visit Azusa Sept. 1. The following week, NAIA-member Malone College of Canton, Ohio, makes its first-ever visit to California to take on the Cougars.

The Cougars hit the road the following week for a return-game vs. NCAA Division III power Wisconsin-La Crosse.

The Cougars are home for 3 of the next 4 games, beginning with NAIA member Southern Nazarene (Okla.) on Sept. 29, followed by Southern Oregon on Oct. 6. They leave for a week to drop in on Humboldt State in the Northern California city of Arcata, Calif., Oct 13 before returning home to host2006 NCAA Division III playoff participant Whitworth on homecoming Saturday Oct. 20.

Azusa Pacific closes out the regular-season schedule with first-ever visits to NCAA Division II Dixie State in St. George, Utah, Oct. 27 and NAIA-member Webber International in Babson Park, Fla., Nov. 3.

All 5 Cougar home games will kick off at 6 p.m. (PT) in Cougar Stadium. Tickets for each contest go on sale the day of the game at 4:30 p.m.
