AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific’s football team, which is preparing for its first season as a member in NCAA Division II’s Great Northwest Athletic Conference, is hosting a high school coaches open house on Saturday, March 10, in conjunction with this weekend’s scrimmage-style practice.
The Cougar coaching staff, led by sixth-year head coach Victor Santa Cruz, will begin the open house program for coaches at 8:30 Saturday morning, which includes lunch along with access to the 1:30 p.m. scrimmage-style practice scheduled for Saturday.

Azusa Pacific is coming off back-to-back NAIA playoff appearances, and the Cougars’ 11-game 2012 schedule features 10 conference games in the NCAA Div. II GNAC, plus a season-opening Thursday night visit to NCAA Div. I FCS UC Davis on Aug. 30. The Cougars’ associate membership in the GNAC for football will be the first conference affiliation for Azusa Pacific’s football program in the school’s history.
The rest of the Cougar Athletics program will compete in the Pacific West Conference as the school enters its second year of a three-year transition into NCAA Division II membership.
