AZUSA, Calif. -- Senior left tackle Luke Marquardt was listed on the first-ever Senior Bowl Watch List, which was unveiled Thursday and includes 309 college seniors and NFL draft prospects from 114 different schools throughout college football.
Marquardt, who measured into fall camp at 6-foot-9, 322 pounds, is a third-year starter on Azusa Pacific’s offensive line, and he is one of six returning linemen with starting experience for the 2012 Cougar offense. He was the only player in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and one of 29 players from non-FBS programs mentioned on the list.
“Luke is very deserving of being on this watch list,” Cougar head coach Victor Santa Cruz said. “Luke's toughness and character are a testimony to his faith, his family, and his hunger to be the best.”
The top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, which is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26th, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., and appearing on the watch list is not required for invitation to the bowl.
The Senior Bowl is college football’s premier senior showcase event, annually featuring the nation’s best senior collegiate football stars and top NFL draft prospects on teams coached by NFL coaching staffs.
