AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific led all Great Northwest Athletic Conference schools with 13 selections to the 2012 GNAC Academic All-Conference team.
There were 38 players who earned the academic all-conference distinction, which included student-athletes in their second year at their school with a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average. No other school produced more than seven recipients of the award.
"We take a great deal of pride when we see our student-athletes recognized for their accomplishments both on and off the field," Cougar head coach Victor Santa Cruz said. "Success in the classroom is a major aspect of our goal to building champion while pursuing championships, and I couldn't be prouder of the academic accomplishments of these young men."
Four of the Cougars’ 13 honorees were listed with GPAs of at least 3.50, with junior LB Jake Henderson registering a 3.64 GPA, and at least four honorees came from each eligible class level. Four of those honored were seniors, four were sophomores, and five came from Azusa Pacific’s junior class.
