THIS YEAR: Junior midfielder Saxony Ifland returns to help anchor the Azusa Pacific midfield after seizing a starting role midway through her 2006 sophomore campaign … An aggressive player in the midfield … Makes things difficult for her opponents because of her toughness … Is a hard tackler … Possesses a good right foot.

2006 (Sophomore): Played in 22 games, starting 16 times … Scored a goal in her fourth start of the year, a 4-1 win over Hope International … Started the Cougars’ final 12 games en route to the NAIA title game … Fired 4 shots twice, including Azusa Pacific’s 4-overtime defeat to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) for the NAIA championship.

2005 (Freshman): Appeared in 11 games, which included 3 starts … Recorded 5 points … Scored 2 goals and had 1 assist … Had a stretch of 3 consecutive games where she recorded at least 1 point … Scored her first collegiate goal against Whittier in the Cougars’ 9-0 victory … Assisted on a goal in the Cougars’ 2-1 win over Notre Dame de Namur … Had a goal in a 4-0 win over Holy Names … Took 10 shots.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Huntington Beach High for 4 seasons under head coach Will Vistasp … Played in the midfield and defense … Served as the team’s captain during her senior season … Was a 2-time winner of the coach’s award.

PERSONAL: Born Jan. 2, 1987, in Newport Beach, Calif., to Dwight and Teresa Ifland … Has 2 brothers (Zach, Levi) … Has not declared a major … Went on a mission trip to Jamaica in 2005 … Enjoys snowboarding, youth group, and the beach.
