THIS YEAR: Junior Sarah Yoro is one of Azusa Pacific’s top offensive weapons … Is skilled in possession … Excellent at set pieces … Has a nose for the goal and actively creates attack opportunities.
2006 (Sophomore): Played in all 23 games for Azusa Pacific, including 22 starts … Scored 9 goals to rank third in a Cougar offense that averaged nearly 3 goals per game … Also assisted 5 goals … Ranked second in postseason scoring for Azusa Pacific, registering 4 goals and a pair of assists in 7 playoff contests … Scored and assisted goals in both the regional semifinals and finals wins over GSAC rivals Westmont and Vanguard … Tallied the game-winner in the NAIA Tournament-opening win over Tiffin (Ohio) … Scored the Cougars’ lone goal in the NAIA title game, a 2-1 defeat to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) … Scored a pair of goals in a 4-1 non-conference win over San Diego Christian, helping give head coach Jason Surrell his 100th career coaching win.
OREGON (Freshman): Played 1 season for head coach Tara Erickson at PAC-10 member Oregon … Played in 12 games in a reserve role … Assisted the Ducks’ first goal in a 2-1 victory over Portland State, sending a corner kick into the area for a teammate’s header … Had 9 shots for the 9-9-1 Ducks.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 4 varsity seasons for head coach Ray Akiona at Mililani (Hawaii) High … Was part of Mililani’s 2002 Hawaii state championship squad as a freshman, playing alongside then-senior and current Cougar Jolie Nitta … Was a 3-time all-state first team pick … Led the Trojans to state runner-up finishes in 2003 and 2004 … As a 2004 junior, named the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s player of the year.
