Janay McKinney

Janay (Duran) McKinney returns to Azusa Pacific for her first collegiate coaching stint, returning to a program where she played 3 years and helped deliver the program’s lone national championship in 1998.
After a stellar 3-year career at Azusa Pacific, McKinney played for the Charlotte Lady Eagles, a USL W-League franchise.
A 3-time All-GSAC and 2-time NSCAA NAIA All-American first team midfielder, McKinney ranks sixth in career assists at Azusa Pacific with 23. Her 12 assists during her junior year, the 1998 national championship season, also ranks sixth in Azusa Pacific history for single-season assists.
She was part of a heralded 1997 recruiting class that bolstered an Azusa Pacific program that was coming off back-to-back losing seasons. The Cougars won more games over the next 3 years than in the 6 years combined prior to her arrival. McKinney scored 18 career goals for a Cougar program that went 57-9-3 over the course of her 3-year career and set the current program single-season wins record of 24 in 1998.
McKinney is married to former Azusa Pacific baseball pitcher Brad McKinney, and the couple resides in Chino Hills.
