Now in her tenth year as Azusa Pacific's head athletic trainer, April Reed also serves as Assistant Athletics Director and oversees the health care for Azusa Pacific's nationally-honored 16-sport athletics program that features more than 300 athletes.

A former 2-sport standout at Azusa Pacific, Reed returned to her alma mater in August of 1999 after serving a year as the head athletic trainer at Caltech. Previously she served three years as an assistant and intern at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., and a year in Gary Souza's Physical Therapy Clinic in Diamond Bar, Calif.

Reed, who administrates the program duties for medical clearance, coverage, record maintenance and staff, oversees prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. She has served as the lead athletic trainer for Cougar football, men's and women's basketball, softball and men's and women's soccer.

A member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association, Reed serves on numerous national committees and is currently the president of the NAIA Athletic Trainers Association. She is also a member of the College Sports Medicine Foundation Advisory Board, and the Cramer Sports Medicine National Advisory Council.

The first Azusa Pacific female athlete to earn All-GSAC in two different sports, Reed and was 3-time All-GSAC honoree in softball and a 2-time selection in soccer. She registered a .328 batting average during her 4-year softball career and graduated with 102 RBIs, then second best on the all-time Cougar chart. In soccer, she set ten school records, six of which still stand, including career shutouts (25) and saves (475) along with most saves in a game (24) and season (169). As a 1994 senior, Reed was named an NAIA Academic All-Scholar Athlete in both sports.

Reed prepped at Rowland High in Rowland Heights, Calif. She currently resides in La Verne, Calif.
