COSTA MESA, Calif. -- The NAIA’s No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific wrapped up the regular-season with its fifth straight shutout and its eighth in the 10-game GSAC schedule, posting a 3-0 victory over Vanguard Saturday evening.

Spohomore forward Theresa Broad scored just 2 minutes and 15 seconds into the game, and senior midfielders Randie Massro and Mari Kasamoto each added second-half scores for the final margin.

Senior goalkeeper Jill Colfer-Martinson saved 4 Vanguard shots to register her 11th shutout of the season, and Azusa Pacific enters the postseason with a current streak of 496 scoreless minutes.

Broad worked her way into position for the goal after dribbling through the Lions defense and around goalkeeper Jillian Foss. Massro’s goal, her fourth of the season, came on a long strike that sailed over Foss into the goal in the 62nd minute. Freshman forward Jennie Cress assisted Kasamoto’s goal, her second on the year, serving in a 77th-minute corner kick.

With the win, Azusa Pacific wraps up the regular season with a perfect 10-0 GSAC campaign and improves to 14-1-1 overall on the season. Vanguard drops to 3-4-2 GSAC, 8-5-3 overall. The Cougars will host Westmont in the first round of the NAIA Region II Playoffs on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
