AZUSA, Calif.-- The 2013 National Christian College Athletics Association West Regional soccer tournaments have been announced, and both Azusa Pacific men’s and women’s soccer teams are slated to host regional matches. Fans can gain free entrance to each match with one non-perishable food item as part of Azusa Pacific’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s canned food drive.
The men (14-4), who finished in a tie with Fresno Pacific atop the Pacific West Conference standings at 10-2, will take on Arizona Christian at the Cougar Soccer Complex on Saturday Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. The winner of that match will face the winner between Fresno Pacific and Bethesda on Nov. 21. Fresno Pacific is the region’s top-seed, and will host the final if it wins its opening round match. The Cougars are the 2-seed, and would host the final with a win and FPU loss.
The women, who won the PacWest championship, earned a bye in the first round, and will host either Point Loma or Bethesda in the regional final Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. The Cougars finished the season with a 12-2-1 mark after they had their 21-match conference unbeaten streak snapped by Point Loma on Nov. 9
The winner of each regional will earn an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships in Kissimmee, Fla. from Dec. 2-7.
