AZUSA, Calif.-- Azusa Pacific’s women’s soccer National Christian College Athletics Association West Region championship matchup with Point Loma has been moved from Thursday night to Wednesday night at 6 p.m. due to weather concerns. The Cougars, who won the program’s first Pacific West Conference championship with a 10-1-1 mark in league play this season, earned the region’s top-seed, and will host No. 2 seed Point Loma, which defeated Bethesda on Saturday.
“Fortunately, we have some flexibility from the NCCAA to adjust a playoff schedule, and it’s important that we present, to the best of our abilities, championship-like conditions, which includes a dry surface. This will allow the athletes to compete without hesitancy regarding the security of their footing, plus the fans can enjoy the game in a more comfortable setting,” said Azusa Pacific Director of Athletics Gary Pine.
The Cougars and Sea Lions will be playing or an automatic bid to the NCCAA national championships in Kissimmee, Fla., and fans can gain free entrance by donating one item of non-perishable food at the gate.
