THIS YEAR: The lone senior on the Cougars’ 15-player roster, Bethany Weisser is penciled to be Azusa Pacific’s everyday shortstop … Displayed notable improvement in her offensive output during the fall workouts and is expected to bat in the middle of the line-up … A corner infielder by trade, has made great strides in becoming a solid shortstop.
2007: Transferred to Azusa Pacific where she appeared in 23 games as a 2007 junior … Started 20 contests, primarily at shortstop … Tallied 31 plate appearances.
SAMFORD: Played 2 seasons of third base and first base at Samford University ... Started 94 games in 2 seasons, hitting 2 home runs for a Bulldog program that went 47-64 on the diamond.
HIGH SCHOOL: At San Ramon Valley High was a 4-time All-East Bay Athletic League pick in softball, earning first team honors as a junior and senior ... Batted .418 over her final 2 seasons with 41 RBIs and 33 runs ... Played on 3 EBAL title teams ... Also played 2 seasons of volleyball, and was a key member of the Wolves’ 2003 CIF championship team.
PERSONAL: Born June 12, 1986, in Lemoore, Calif., to Rick (pediatrician) and Kerry Weisser ... Has 3 sisters (Rachel, Jessica, Rebekah, a freshman on the Cougar softball team) ... A youth ministry major ... Took a summer missions trip to East Asia with current Cougar coach Carrie Webber.
