Lori Shimasaki

Shimasaki completed an outstanding 3-year Cougar career in 2007. She appeared in 129 games with Azusa Pacific, posting a career batting average of .371 which ranks fourth on the Cougar all-time chart. She had 52 multiple hit games, and as a 2007 senior fashioned a personal-best 13-game hitting streak.
One of the fastest players ever in program history, she also stole a school-record 73 bases (out of 81 attempts), and her 3 career home runs were all inside-the-park jobs. It was the extraordinary speed that led her to track down most balls hit to the gaps or in shallow centerfield.
As a 2006 junior when she batted .361 with 23 stolen bases and 39 runs scored in 48 games played, Shimasaki was named All-Golden State Athletic Conference first team, All-NAIA Region and received NAIA All-American honorable mention.
Shimasaki came to Azusa Pacific after spending her 2003 freshman season at NCAA power University of Oklahoma. As a Sooner, she appeared in 50 games, primarily as a pinch runner. She scored 15 runs and was second on the team with 9 stolen bases for a Sooner squad that advanced to the College World Series.
Shimasaki prepped at Deer Creek High in Edmond, Okla., where she was a 2-time Big 10 Conference Player of the Year pick. As a 2002 senior she earned all-state recognition after batting .426 with 35 stolen bases. She was a 3-time Little All-City pick by the Daily Oklahoman. For her 4-year high school career, Shimasaki stole 164 bases, including 47 as a sophomore. She also lettered in track & field and tennis at Deer Creek.
Lori, 25, graduated from Azusa Pacific with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. She is currently working on teaching credential at Azusa Pacific.
