AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific, which is currently ranked No. 13 in the NAIA and finished second in the Golden State Athletic Conference, has been tabbed the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NAIA Softball Regional Playoffs and will open first-round play on Tuesday, May 6, against No. 3 Concordia at 11 a.m.

The entire 4-team regional playoff, which will determine the California representative in the NAIA national championship tournament, will be staged at the Arco Olympic Training Site in Chula Vista, Calif., May 6-8. The tournament is a double-elimination format and includes GSAC champ and regional top seed Point Loma Nazarene along with The Master’s, which is making its first-ever postseason appearance.

Point Loma, which heads into the playoffs as the NAIA’s No. 3-ranked team, is 42-7 on the season. Azusa Pacific is 40-18, while Concordia, ranked No. 21, is 34-18. The Master’s is 34-15.
