		<p><b>LA VERNE, Calif</b> &#8211; Seventeen Azusa Pacific swimmers competed in the non-scoring Leo Invitational hosted by the University of La Verne at Los Flores Pool Saturday afternoon.</p>
		<p>
		<p>The Cougars won 3 of the 9 events in which they competed, and 3 more NAIA qualifying marks were reached during today&#8217;s competition.</p>
		<p>
		<p>Freshman <b> Victoria Gibb</b> won the 50-yard free style with a 25.68, while All-American junior <b>Kaylen Hewko</b> took the 100-yard butterfly (59.72) and used a strong kick over the final 4 laps to win the 500-yard free (5:15.58).</p>
		<P>
		<p>While the Cougars were competing against Biola, Concordia, Mills and host La Verne, they had opportunities to punch a few more tickets to the NAIA Championship Meet in March.  Junior <b>Malia Garcia</b> finished third in the 200 free and in the process qualified for the NAIAs with a season-best effort of 2:04.11.  Gibb and freshman <b>Simone Garcia</b> both qualified in the 100 butterfly with times of 1:00.61 and 1:01.57, respectively.</p>
		<p>
		<p>Azusa Pacific continues through the fall portion of the 2009-10 season with the 2-day Bay Area Invitational hosted by Mills College in Oakland, Calif., next weekend, Friday and Saturday (Nov. 13-14) beginning at noon each.</p>
